General Update + What's Going On?
Hi,I just wanted to provide some context on how the project is going so people don't think it's dead. Far from it: I am on track to release this game for free in early 2026! Yay! Here's a roadmap on what needs to be done:
- Wrapping up level 15 of the main levels (almost done; should be finished today!)
- Working on the final level (I've got the idea planned, I just need to execute it. Should take around 2-3 weeks depending on how intense my new job is)
- Adding these levels + more goodies to the overworld...
- Checking if this is enough to fill up the overworld. If not, I'll probably spin up one or two more main levels. Will add another month to the development time but this is not a big deal.
- Working on the true final level. Shouldn't take long, probably a few weeks
- Hooking everything up and doing my own test playthroughs. Also general level polish and start / end cutscenes
- Sending it off to playtesters. Depending on how succulent the carrot and how hard the stick is, should take 3 weeks to playtest and polish.
- Few more final playthroughs, and then...
RELEASE
It's all very exciting. I can't wait to share this game with you all, even though it has morphed from a Knytt Undergrounds-like chill platformer into a demented, twisted, and truly difficulty precision platformer. Perhaps this was always my intention (spoiler: it was).
I've attached a video to this post containing some of the level previews I've been posting to my BlueSky. You can always follow there if you want more updates, or if you want to see how I'm currently procrastinating.
Feel free to drop any questions you have here. I'll try to answer them all. If you'd like a longer discussion, feel free to reach out to my Discord: 6527kg.
Thanks again and have a great day!
